Weather Situation
A ridge extends over much of the state. A weak trough travelling across
southern Queensland will move off the southeast coast later today. The ridge
will gradually strengthen and extend over the remainder of the state in the
wake of this trough, persisting for much of the coming week.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday 27 April
Mostly sunny. Patchy fog in the early morning. Slight chance of a shower in the
late morning and afternoon. Light winds becoming westerly 15 to 25 km/h in the
middle of the day then becoming light in the evening. Daytime maximum
temperatures 26 to 31.

elsewhere. The chance of a thunderstorm in the southeast, and over northwestern
Cape York Peninsula. Possible morning fog in the east. Light to moderate
southerly winds about the western interior, turning west to southwesterly about
the southern interior and southeast, and turning easterly about Cape York
Peninsula. Light and variable winds elsewhere, with northeasterly afternoon
seabreezes along the east coast. Maximum temperatures above average in the east
south of Townsville, below average in the west, near average elsewhere.
Forecast for Monday 28 April
Isolated to scattered showers in the northwest, over Cape York Peninsula, and
over the Granite Belt. The chance of a thunderstorm about Torres Strait. Mostly
sunny elsewhere. Maximum temperatures below average in the west and the
southern interior, above average about parts of the east between Innisfail and
Hervey Bay, near average elsewhere.
Forecast for Tuesday 29 April
Isolated to scattered showers in the northwest, central interior and over Cape
York Peninsula, as well as about the exposed coast of the southeast. Mostly
sunny elsewhere. Maximum temperatures below average in the west and southern
interior, near average elsewhere.
Forecast for Wednesday 30 April
Isolated showers about the east coast, central interior and northwest,
increasing to scattered showers about northern Cape York Peninsula and the
exposed coast of the southeast. The chance of a thunderstorm about Torres
Strait. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Maximum temperatures below average in western
Queensland and the southern interior, becoming well below average about the
southwest, near average elsewhere.
Outlook for Thursday 1 May to Saturday 3 May
Isolated to scattered showers in eastern districts and over Cape York
Peninsula. The chance of a thunderstorm about Torres Strait. Mostly sunny
elsewhere. Maximum temperatures near average about the east coast north of
Hervey Bay on Thursday, well below average about the southwest on Thursday,
below average across Queensland otherwise.
